About Anxiety Relief Solutions
..
“Creative people are extremely sensitive. Neurologically, they are very finely tuned and open to all kinds of energies from the outside, so it’s important they protect themselves and not be overwhelmed…
“People need immediate relief for anxiety; they don’t want to wait.”
Energy Psychiatrist Judith Orloff – see the Emotional Freedom page on this site.
Anxiety can occur without any sort of outside trigger, and it is not the same as ordinary fear, which we naturally feel in response to an external threat.
People experience it in various ways, including phobias, social anxiety, panic and stage fright.
Actor Amanda Peet on stage fright: “I came in [to act in a play] six days before we opened for previews! I imagine it is what people feel like when they jump off a plane….
“I called my agent and said I need to do another play but really quickly.
“I am feeling that I am just getting over my stage fright, so I want to go back really quickly. I don’t want to relearn how not to be self-conscious.”
Musician Moby on panic: “I’ve had panic attacks since I was 19… Now I’m fine. Every now and then, I’ll have too much caffeine, be stressed out about work and be in a relationship that’s not going well, and it will happen again.
“I just tell myself, listen, I’ve dealt with this a thousand times before, it always ends. There’s a part of you that always feels like this is never going to end. But then it does.”
“To venture causes anxiety, but not to venture is to lose one’s self.”
Soren Kierkegaard [1813-1855]

I have experienced anxiety to some degree most of my life, but have found significant relief through using some of the approaches in these science-based programs I selected to include on the site, such as cognitive therapy, mindfulness meditation and biofeedback.
For quick relief I sometimes use the homeopathic preparation Pure Calm.
Of course, what counts is how a program helps you.

Anxiety is both a physical and psychological state.
There are cognitive, somatic (body), emotional, and behavioral aspects. Basically, it is extreme versions of feelings like uneasiness, apprehension, dread or worry, often brought on by not dealing well enough with stress.
“With things like depression or anxiety oftentimes people have certain styles of thinking, like catastrophizing, which is this idea that we are always expecting disasters, something terrible is going to happen… We really blow it up and magnify it and this tends to amplify our anxiety. But people can become more aware of their habitual style of thinking… step outside of it. It’s no longer controlling them.” Elisha Goldstein, PhD, about his Mindful Solutions CD program.
Deanne Repich, founder of the National Institute of Anxiety and Stress, says there are a number of things that can influence anxiety: Biological Factors, Stress Overload, Lifestyle Factors, Childhood Environment, Thought Patterns, and Genetic Factors.

That is a lot of stuff to consider in getting relief for anxiety, but there is much you can do for yourself using the guidance of the carefully researched anxiety products on this site.
Fear is usually related to escape and avoidance, and anxiety can have the same kind of body reactions, but many people experience anxiety as something uncontrollable or unavoidable.
Anxiety can be a normal part of stress, and actually help us deal with difficult situations. But when it is excessive, and interferes with living our life fully, creatively and without dread, it may be an anxiety disorder.
According to The National Institute of Mental Health, “Anxiety Disorders affect about 40 million American adults age 18 years and older (about 18%) in a given year, causing them to be filled with fearfulness and uncertainty.
“Unlike the relatively mild, brief anxiety caused by a stressful event (such as speaking in public or a first date), anxiety disorders last at least 6 months and can get worse if they are not treated.”
“Anxiety disorders include panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social phobia (or social anxiety disorder), specific phobias, and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
“Each anxiety disorder has different symptoms, but all the symptoms cluster around excessive, irrational fear and dread.”
